Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Nanny Portal ("we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services (the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Account information — name, email address, phone number, address, and password when you create an account.
- Profile information — depending on your account type: caregiving experience, certifications, rates, availability, photos, agency details, household details, and information about your family.
- Information about your children — families may choose to share children's ages and care needs in their profiles and listings. You control what you share; please share only what is needed to find the right care.
- Messages and content — messages you send to other users, reviews, notes, and documents you upload (such as certifications or résumés).
- Payment information — processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
Information collected automatically: basic usage data such as pages visited, device and browser type, and log information used to keep the Platform secure and working.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate the Platform: create profiles, display listings, deliver messages, and process payments.
- To review and verify accounts, including facilitating background checks for caregivers through our screening partner (with the caregiver's consent).
- To keep the community safe: investigating reports, preventing fraud, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To communicate with you about your account, and — if you opt in — product updates.
- To improve the Platform.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How Information Is Shared
- With other users — your profile and listings are visible to other users as part of how the marketplace works. Some details (like full names) may be withheld until you choose to connect. Private notes and your document vault are not visible to other users unless you share them.
- With service providers — companies that help us run the Platform, such as our database and hosting provider, payment processor, email provider, and background-check partner. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- For legal reasons — if required by law, or to protect the safety of users, children, or the public.
- Business transfers — if Nanny Portal is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer with the business, subject to this policy.
4. Children's Privacy
Nanny Portal is for adults. We do not permit users under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Information about children on the Platform is provided by their parents or guardians for the purpose of arranging care. Parents control this information and may edit or remove it at any time.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though the Platform may not work properly without them.
6. Data Retention
We keep your information while your account is active and as long as needed to provide the Platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information except where we are required to retain it.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
8. Your Choices and Rights
- Access and update — you can view and edit your profile and account information at any time from your settings.
- Delete — you can request deletion of your account and data from account settings or by emailing us.
- Marketing — you can opt out of non-essential emails using the notification settings or the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- State privacy rights — depending on where you live (including California), you may have additional rights such as the right to know, correct, or delete personal information. To exercise them, contact us at the address below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you by email or through the Platform before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest revision.
